Luke 5:1-11 | Leaning into Your Calling

May our God, a Friend of sinners,
remind you of His call on your life this week.

May the call to join in with His kingdom-building
(in whatever corner of the kingdom to which you’ve been assigned)
excite and empower you to follow Him,
no matter how large or small the task.

As you hear the call to cast out your net
or lean over the edge of the cliff,
may your faith be firm in the One
who binds all things together
including the ropes you’re hanging onto.

May you know our all-powerful and trustworthy God
who is the One upon whom you can always lean.

May you entrust to Him each day,
abiding in the ways of Jesus
and leaning into the freedom He offers.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord lift up His countenance to you and bring you peace.

Luke 4:31-44 | The Voice of Authority

May the One who possesses all authority
be known to you this week.

May you know the One
who created the heavens and the earth
with just a few syllables spoken in darkness;
the One who came as a man
to speak words of life and healing
to the poor and sick and demon-possessed.

May the voice of the Almighty God,
our greatest authority and good shepherd,
be the voice that we seek to hear
and strive to follow always in faith.

May the One who speaks
words of eternal life,
who holds all things together
and pursues you in His love,
be the authority that shapes your path
and motivates each step you take
along the way.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord lift up His countenance to you and give you peace.

Luke 4:16-30 | Comfort from our Deliverer

Now may the Lord Jesus Christ be with you
this week as you rest in His glorious salvation,
for Jesus came to bind up the brokenhearted,
to comfort all who mourn and to provide
for those who grieve.

As you repent and believe,
Jesus has promised to grant you
a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you
May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace both now and forevermore.

Luke 4:1-15 | Facing Temptations

May God Almighty
remind you this week
that He is with you always.

May His presence be a reminder to you
to fill your heart and mind with His ways
so that you may not
encounter temptations in weakness,
but standing on a firm foundation.

May you meditate on God’s Word
so that you are ready
to respond with Scripture
when you are tempted
to let lies win the day.

May you find strength
in the promises of your God,
knowing you are a child of the King,
beloved and held in His grace.

Rather than letting sin
develop roots in your life,
may you abide in the ways of Jesus,
growing in Him
and bearing fruit for the kingdom,
assured that His plan for your life
is the best one.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord lift up His countenance to you and give you peace.

Luke 2:41-52 | Son of God, Son of Man

May you see Jesus
as the Son of God
and Son of man.

May both His divinity
and humanity
be a reality to you today.

In seeing your Lord’s sharing
in our circumstances
and His surrendering
of divinity’s advantages
in order to relate to His people,
may this create connections in your heart
to Jesus the Son of God and Son of man.

When you search and search
for your God and are troubled
by His seeming lack of presence,
may you receive comfort in your waiting,
knowing that God’s love for you is constant,
and His Spirit will never leave you.

May you be reminded in those times
of how Mary and Joseph
searched and searched
only to be surprised
at the place that they ran into
the Son of God and Son of man.

May Jesus’ example of submission
be a model for you as you begin this year,
so that as 2020 begins to get going,
you would approach it
with your Father’s footsteps
to guide your way.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord lift up His countenance to you and give you peace.
