todd berge | senior pastor
Todd serves as the Senior Pastor of the Bridge Church. He married Jeanne, his high school sweetheart, in 1986, and together they have four adult children: Amanda, Daniel, Rachel, and Emma. Jeanne works as a Registered Nurse at Good Shepherd Hospital. Todd committed his life to Jesus Christ at the age of fourteen and soon began serving in the church. After marriage, he worked in construction and he and Jeanne volunteered together in youth ministry at the Village Church of Barrington. In 2008, Todd responded to the Lord’s call on his life and began preparations to leave construction and go into ministry full time. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute in 2011 and is presently working toward a Masters of Divinity from Liberty University. In the fall of 2013 he left construction and focused on starting The Bridge Church. Todd is grateful to serve the community of Algonquin and the Bridge Church as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
mark lachel | associate pastor
Mark is honored to be serving The Bridge Church as the Associate Pastor. Mark came to know the Lord as a freshman in high school and was discipled by his youth pastor. Soon after, he felt a calling to ministry. He has over twenty years of ministry experience and has a degree in Christian Ministry and a Minor in Biblical Studies from Trinity International University. Mark has a passion for investing in people and wants to see them become disciples who make disciples. Mark and his wife, Catie, have been serving together in ministry since they met. They have been married since 2005 and enjoy playing obscure board games and rooting for the Bears, White Sox, and Bulls. Mark is excited to be part of what God is doing in Algonquin through The Bridge Church.
kelly kaufmann | Director of children’s ministry
Kelly is honored to serve the Bridge Church as Director of Children’s Ministry. Kelly is a native of California where she was blessed to grow up in a Christian family and participate in a wonderful church. She became a believer at the age of 5 and was baptized at the age of 8. She has many years’ experience as both a student and a leader in ministry. Kelly holds a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a teaching credential in K-12 education. She and her husband, Mike, have three adult children and a son-in-law. Kelly is passionate for children to come to know and love Jesus as their Savior. Her desire is to lead children in a kid-centered ministry where they dive into the Bible, ask questions, build friendships, and learn to share their faith. She considers it a privilege to support parents as they raise their children to walk with God. A favorite verse supporting the importance of ministry to children is Deuteronomy 7:9, “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.”
HANNAH COMER | DIRECTOR OF WORSHIP + connections
Hannah is grateful to serve at The Bridge Church as the Director of Worship. While she grew up in a strong Christian home, it wasn't until her teen years that she desired to live a life fully devoted to Jesus Christ. Her life-long love for music and seeing it used within the Church to glorify God sparked her interest in leading others in worship. She believes that through the power of the Holy Spirit corporate worship can uniquely encourage, guide, and lead the church body towards unity with each other and the Trinity. Hannah and her husband Bradley have been serving together in worship ministry since they first met, and they count it a privilege to worship, serve, and grow within The Bridge Church community.
PAM CASALI | EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
Pam enjoys serving as the Executive Assistant for The Bridge Church. Pam and her husband, Tom, put their faith in Christ in their early thirties and continue to be amazed at God’s unfailing grace, love, and faithfulness as they now watch their grown children pass that faith on to the next generation. They consider it a privilege to worship and serve together within The Bridge community. Pam has a background in education, but felt the call to be at home while she was raising her children. During that time, she was involved in teaching a young moms’ Bible study and serving as an AWANA leader, Sunday School teacher, and MOPS mentor. Pam joined the staff in 2015 and can be found at The Bridge office throughout the week.
ANDY BOETTCHER | WORSHIP LEADER + digital media coordinator
Andy serves as a Worship Leader at The Bridge Church. Growing up in a Christian family, Andy attended church regularly and eventually developed a passion for worship leading through volunteering in his youth group. Since then, he has had the opportunity to worship alongside many people in different settings, from summer camps to university choirs and plenty in between. After graduating from Judson University in the spring of 2017, Andy joined The Bridge to help lead worship primarily during the Saturday night services, and it has been a joy for him to serve there since then. Andy has a passion for encouraging people and seeing them connect with God and others in meaningful ways, and he is thankful to see how these things are embraced by the community at The Bridge.
DAVID BRISTOL | TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
David enjoys his time serving at The Bridge as the Technical Director. He grew up volunteering in technical ministries at his childhood church, and while attending school. In the Fall of 2017, while attending McHenry County College and working part-time as a barista, David joined the team to produce weekend services and oversee the technical ministry at The Bridge. David has a heart for connecting technology and theology in ways that advance the Kingdom.
Dave norbeck | Elder Chairman
I put my faith in Jesus Christ at age 7. I grew up in a Christian home with a strong Christian heritage that goes back generations. I was confirmed in 8th grade in the Covenant Church and baptized at age 15. I have served in the local church in Awana and Children’s Ministry, and in leadership as an Elder for 11 years in 2 different EFCA churches. I started attending The Bridge in 2015 and currently serve as Elder Chairman. My occupation is as an orthopedic surgeon. I went part time in that capacity when I felt called by God in 2012 to pursue a Masters of Theological Studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Bannockburn, IL. I finished that degree in 2017. I have been married to my wife Toni since 1989, and have 2 grown children, Andy and Alyssa. My spiritual gifts are leadership, teaching, shepherding and giving.
I was raised in a Christian home, where I put my faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at the age of 13. In 1985, as a young adult I began attending an Assemblies of God Church in Naperville (Calvary Temple), but later joined Willow Creek Community Church in 1990. I’ve been married to my wife, Wynne, since 2001, and we have two children: Alex (15) and Megan (13). We later began attending an Evangelical Free Church in Cary (Living Grace) before joining The Bridge Church in January 2015, where I currently serve as an elder. My occupation is a Senior IT Program Manager, but in college I studied music and have regularly served as part of each church’s worship ministry. I also have two grown children (Amanda and Ryan) from a prior marriage (both are married and expecting their second child in November 2019.) My spiritual gifts are administration, mercy, and giving.
I grew up in a Christian home. I was surrounded with the Gospel from both my parents and my extended family. I accepted Jesus Christ at age 13 and was baptized a year later. I have served in the local church as an Adult Education teacher, Small Group leader and as an Elder for over 10 years in 4 different churches. My wife and family started attending The Bridge in 2015. I am a Design Engineer by profession for a local engineering firm. I have been married to my wife, Kathy, since 1969. We have raised 4 children and have 8 grandchildren. My spiritual gifts are in the areas of faith, teaching, and shepherding.
As a pastor’s son, I had the blessing of growing up in a Christian home. My walk with Christ is longer than I can remember, and I’m grateful for His faithfulness to sustain and develop my faith throughout my life. God has gifted me in service, leadership, administration, and teaching. I’ve had the opportunity to use those gifts in children’s and youth ministries, worship, administration, missions and more within the church. I’ve also served in several parachurch ministries. I was an Elder at my previous church until I felt called to start attending The Bridge in 2015, and I’ve been blessed to be a part of our board since 2016. In my career, I work in application technology, leading a team in production services at a large investment bank. I’ve been married since 2017 to my wonderful wife, Amy.
I put my faith in Jesus as my Savior in 2010 and was baptized the same year. I have been called to serve in numerous ministries in and outside the church—benevolence, home repair, children’s ministry, and with New Life Corrections leading biblical fatherhood courses in the Illinois correctional system. My family and I came to The Bridge 2017 and I have served as an elder since 2018. I work for a large medical products company where I lead a readiness organization for our medication dispensing software and hardware products. I have been married to my wife, Karen, since 2006 and we have two children, Madie and Ben.
While I was baptized as a child, it wasn’t until 1970 that I was introduced to Christ (by my then high school sweetheart, and future wife, Kathy). While I understood His offering of the gift of salvation, I didn’t become a true believer until the early 1990’s following issues related to my father’s declining health. Kathy and I have been happily married since 1973 and have two grown daughters, Kim and Kelly, and two beautiful granddaughters, Hannah (4 years) and Emma (16 months).
My early career involved brief stints with architectural and civil engineering firms. In 1979, I received my degree in Chemical Engineering and joined Honeywell/UOP’s refining and petrochemical division where I managed technical sales for various refinery technologies for 38 years. After retirement from Honeywell in 2017, I have spent my days trying to keep up with my wife and her ever-increasing activities. Kathy and I were members of Village Churh of Barrington prior to joining The Bridge’s launch team. Since joining The Bridge, I have served in various capacities including setup, ushering, mentoring at Eastview, communion, finance, land purchase, the architectural search team, and as an Elder.
Though I grew up and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church, it wasn’t until my late 20s that I was saved and began following Jesus. I have been serving in worship and technical production ministry since 2003. My background is in audio production (recording studio & live sound), and I currently work in the audiovisual commercial construction industry, helping design and build integrated systems. I’ve been attending The Bridge Church 2014, primarily serving upfront and behind the scenes on the worship and technical teams. I began serving on the Elder Board in 2016. My wife, Valerie, and I were married in 2003, we have 3 wonderful girls: Naomi, Annika, and Kathryn, and we live in the Elgin area. I find joy in bringing spiritual giftings of faith, exhortation, shepherding and discernment to God’s people.
I grew up in a Christian home and accepted Christ as my Savior at a very young age. I was fortunate to have loving, Godly parents and several strong Christian mentors, including Pastor Todd, who poured into my life while I was growing up. Before going to college, I served at a Christian camp in northern Wisconsin leading their horsemanship program. At my previous church home I served as a deacon where I led the Assimilation and Local Impact teams. I was also involved with the Small Group ministry and Men’s ministry. I currently serve as an Elder at The Bridge. I am a businessman by occupation, and own a small industrial distribution & manufacturing company along with my father and brother. I have been married to my wife, Tricia, since 1996, and we have three daughters, Kennedy, Maddie, and Mackenzie. My spiritual gifts are leadership, service, wisdom, and hospitality.
